Product Details

This is a brand new design from Jochen Benzinger, and adds a bit of "punch" to his Subskription Series.

All his work done is completely by hand using machines that are, in many cases, over 100 years old.  You can learn more about how Jochen Benzinger creates watches by clicking here.  You'll also see the very machines and workshop where he works.

With this watch Jochen proves again why his old-world craftsmanship skills are among the elite in his profession.

The concept for a subskription watch dates to the late 18th century, when the notion of placing a down payment for a watch that was to be built and delivered later was a novel idea.  The defining feature of Jochen’s subskription watches is the positioning of the hour and minute hands on an off-center post, typically toward the top of the dial.  Jochen designs and completes his creations in-house along with a group of German master watchmakers.

This watch features an open dial in sterling silver that is hand-guilloched and hand-skeletonized. The dial has a black PVD finish, orange Arabic numerals, and polished steel Breguet-style hands. Also viewable from the dial is the hand-guilloched ground plate.
The guilloched and skeletonized movement is decorated in purple and white Rhodium. The movement also features flame-blued screws and swan neck fine regulation.

The case, made in Pforzheim with high grade steel, has a black DLC finish, and it features a combination of polished and brushed finishes. It features a sapphire crystal on the front and back.

This watch features calf leather strap with a stainless-steel buckle.

The Rose Engine

The rose engine is a type of geometric lathe, many of which date back more than 100 years.

Operated entirely by hand, each cut must be precisely made or the entire watch component is ruined and must be started again.

There are very few craftsmen in the world who are trained as experts in the operations of rose engines, engine turning and hand guilloche, and these techniques are employed in all Jochen Benzinger watches.

The Graver

This hand tool is the same as employed by the 16th century German painter and engraver Albrecht Durer.

Jochen Benzinger uses these graver tools to cut and decorate movement parts.

Skeleton Saw

A skeleton saw (or "fine fretsaw") is usually associated with work done by master goldsmiths, but Jochen Benzinger use this tool to create the skeletonizing of the bridges.
