New Manufacture Calibre With Power Reserve and Ceramic Case Inlay
Jochen Benzinger in Pforzheim, Germany has once again teamed up with Richard and Maria Habring (Habring²) in Volkermarkt, Austria to design a new manufacture calibre, this time with a power reserve display.
We are pleased to introduce the new Benzinger GAP 2 Graphite Power Reserve.
The Benzinger GAP 2 Collection, which stands for
German Austrian Partnership (GAP), builds on the success of the original GAP 1 Collection. These new models combine the best of German and Austrian watchmaking, all powered by a hand made movement with exceptional finishing.
Additionally, this watch features a special ceramic inlay around the case back and on the signed crown.

This is a
very special watch. So much so that the case back is engraved with "UNIKATE" which means "unique" in German.
Jochen Benzinger has long been renowned for his engraving, guilloche dials, and skeletonized movements. He set out to create something even more exceptional by developing a manufacture movement together with Habring².
Habring² is a small but highly regarded manufacturer of mechanical wristwatches and movements, often featuring unique complications. The brand was launched in 2004 by Richard and Maria Habring with the goal of becoming Austria's first modern mechanical watch brand.
Over the years, Habring² has earned a sterling reputation not only for their watches, but also for fostering partnerships with other brands embracing their philosophy of high quality and small production.
The team of Jochen Benzinger and Habring² combines two of the most respected names in independent watchmaking.
The Benzinger GAP 2 calibre is even more advanced than its predecessor.
One of the biggest challenges, beyond incorporating the offset hours, minutes, and small seconds on the same axis as the date complication, was integrating a 48 hour power reserve display.
Habring² successfully achieved this by utilizing differentials and additional gear chains, positioning the power reserve precisely where it is now located: just below the 12 marker. The positioning of the hour and minute hands is shifted slightly toward the 12, in much the same way as are watches featuring subscription complications.
And speaking of the dial, Jochen has created a work of art with a graphite finish.
Starting with sterling silver, he uses antique rose engines to engrave interesting guilloche patterns, all by hand. The dial also features rose gold chapter rings, matching Breguet style hands, Breguet frost, and Arabic numerals.
The Movement
The Jochen Benzinger GAP 2 Graphite Power Reserve features a manually wound manufacture movement with a power reserve of 48 hours.
At 28,800 vph, this movement also features tangential screw fine regulation for improved accuracy and a KIF shock absorber, which offers additional protection against external forces. A Carl Haas German balance spring is designed for chronometer level timekeeping.
The movement is masterfully guillochéd and skeletonized by hand and is easily recognizable by those familiar with Jochen Benzinger's work.
Rose gold and rhodium plated movement parts stand out against the guillochéd three quarter plate along with flame blued screws and wheels.
The Case
Jochen Benzinger worked with a German case manufacturer in his hometown of Pforzheim to create this 39 mm stainless steel case.
The case back features a sapphire crystal surrounded by relief engravings. Surrounding the engravings on the case back is a ceramic inlay, which matches the color of the dial.
Another special feature of this watch is the positioning of the crown. The crown is located at 2 while the traditional position at 3 is occupied by the date quickset pusher. The crown also features a ceramic inlay that matches the case back.
This watch ships on a black leather strap with a steel engraved Benzinger buckle. This strap is attached to the case using steel lug screws.
Water resistance is amazing for a watch of this design - 100 meters.
