The Latest Evolution
This new addition to the Jaeger & Benzinger Edition 7 Collection is packed with all the features Benzinger fans love: a highly decorated movement, a hand guilloched dial finished with black rhodium, rose gold plated Breguet hands, and two ornate options for the hand guilloched rotor.
The name "Moire" alludes to the unique guilloche pattern on the dial which gently ripples away from the center post.
The overall design of this watch fits in so perfectly within the rest of the Jaeger & Benzinger lineup that at first you may not even notice it is a chronograph. Jochen used his traditional styling to create a minimalist but effective chronograph layout with central chronograph seconds and a 30 minute register at 12. The chronograph pushers are subtle in shape, but simple to operate.
Traditional German Craftsmanship
This watch is from the team of Jochen Benzinger and Kay Jaeger, two of the most well known purveyors of "hand made" products in Germany.
Based in the small village of Baden-Baden, Germany in the Black Forest, Jaeger & Benzinger are preserving the lost art of making watches largely by hand, rather than relying on automated computer controlled CNC machines.
Using the traditional German watchmaking techniques of hand guilloche, hand engraving and hand skeletonization each Jaeger & Benzinger watch is essentially a unique piece since these techniques will never produce an exact copy.
The Automatic Chronograph Movement
If you've never seen a movement finished by hand using techniques that date back more than 100 years, you're in for a surprise.
This watch features a stunning hand finished chronograph movement based on the prominent Valjoux 7750 with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. Jochen uses perlage, blued screws, and other decorative techniques to complete the movement design, and then moves on to the rotor.
Jochen offers a choice between two unique rotor styles for this piece:
- Standard: hand guilloched full disc with spiral design, finished in black rhodium with a window showing the decorated movement underneath
- Optional upgrade: skeletonized and hand guilloched with "JB" initials (or your initials) in rose gold contrasting against the black rhodium finish of the rotor

The Hand Crafted Dial
With all Jaeger & Benzinger watches, the thing you are likely to notice first is the dial. Like all other Jaeger & Benzinger watches, the dial of this watch is not machine made or printed.
Instead, the dial is entirely hand crafted in-house from sterling silver and finished with black rhodium. The dial, along with the chronograph minutes register at 12, is hand guilloched and engraved on antique and historic rose engines.
The rose gold plated hands, chronograph minute register, and nameplate provide a striking contrast to the engraved dial and are complemented by black Arabic numerals.
The process of hand guilloche can take hours, and each pattern is essentially unique because of the hand workmanship. Old world craftsmanship skills are what place Jochen Benzinger among the elite in his profession.
The 42.6 mm Case
This watch is fitted in a robust 42.6 mm stainless steel case made in Pforzheim, Germany. The bezel is polished and sloped at approximately 45 degrees, creating a simple and smooth visual transition from the crystal to the lugs.
The case has sapphire crystal on both the front and back revealing the decorated movement. Fittingly, the case back is engraved with "UNIKATE" which means "unique" in German.
Pricing Note - Optional Engraved and Skeletonized Rotor
This new watch is optionally offered with a hand engraved and skeletonized rotor with the brand initials "JB" (or your initials) for an additional $750 (as shown in the picture at the top of this page).
The watch price shown on this page is for the hand guilloched rotor finished in black rhodium and does not include this optional rotor - you will be able to choose your preferred rotor on the reservations page
at this link.
If you prefer your two letter initials rather than "JB" you may also choose that option for an additional $750 to the price shown on this page.
