The Hanhart MK I single button chronograph is one of the brand's most iconic designs, making its debut in 1938 as the Calibre 40.
And in all the years since this watch was first introduced, it has never featured a panda (or reverse panda) dial - until now.
Introducing the brand new (and very much requested) Hanhart Pioneer MK I Single Button Chronograph with a reverse panda dial.
An Instant Classic
Chronographs with "panda" dials have long been sought after by collectors of vintage watches. A traditional panda dial will feature a white dial with black chronograph sub dials, while a reverse (or inverse) panda dial will have a black base with white sub dials.
This color scheme was very popular for racing, space, and pilot's chronographs in the '60s and '70s, and in recent years has become a heavily requested feature on chronograph watches.
This new watch is powered by a Valjoux 7753 calibre with bi-compax displays, which Hanhart then modifies in house to enable single button chronograph operation.
With so many watch brands producing chronograph watches, it's refreshing to see Hanhart taking the lead with the single button complication.
A single button chronograph provides extreme ease of use - a single pusher is used to start, stop, and then reset the chronograph timing functions.
The distinctive red pusher is a Hanhart trademark and dates back to early Hanhart pilot's watch designs.
This bi-compax chronograph features a white 30 minute register at 3 and white small seconds sub dial at 9. The case is in stainless steel and is fitted with a fluted bi-directional friction fit rotating bezel with red indicator.
Other features include:
- Convex sapphire crystal
- Screw down case back
- Distinctive cathedral hands
- Large crown with deep beveled edge
- SuperLuminova on numerals and hands
- Power reserve of 42 hours
This watch is water resistant to 100 meters and is fitted with a vintage Hanhart black riveted calf skin strap with tang buckle.
