A Modern Classic
The new Hanhart 415 ES Panda Chronograph offers a clean and classic layout reminiscent of historic Hanhart chronographs.
Unlike the busier tachymeter dials of its predecessors in the 415 ES Collection, the dial of this watch is closer in style to that of the 417 ES Collection. However, this dial features bright white X2 SuperLuminova on the hands and hour numerals and also features the very cool Hanhart "wings" logo.
Please continue reading below to learn more about the history of the Hanhart 415 ES Chronograph series and why Hanhart and we are pleased to announce this latest version.
Historic Design
In the 1960s, Hanhart produced the 415 ES Chronograph in several configurations.
Original 1960s Hanhart 415 ES

The most significant feature of the Hanhart 415 ES Chronograph was the inclusion of a bi-directional rotating bezel with 60 minute graduations. This model was the first in the company's history to feature a numeric pilot's bezel rather than a fluted bezel.
Several years ago, we met with Hanhart's watch development team and were all intrigued by a specific 415 ES configuration that featured straight hands, a tachymeter scale, and a red hundredths scale (original watch pictured). The ensuing discussion eventually led to the development of a modern 415 ES Chronograph Collection.
After seeing the success of the Hanhart 415 ES Iconic Chronograph and the subsequent Hanhart 415 ES Pure Chronograph, we are not surprised that Hanhart quickly decided to create additional variations within the new collection by including panda and reverse panda dials.
Chronographs with "panda" dials have long been sought after by collectors of vintage watches. A traditional panda dial will feature a white dial with black chronograph sub dials, while a reverse (or inverse) panda dial will have a black base with white sub dials.
This color scheme was very popular for racing, space, and pilot's chronographs in the '60s and '70s, and in recent years has become a heavily requested feature on chronograph watches.
Modern Upgrades
The new Hanhart 415 ES Panda Chronograph is a combination of vintage inspiration and modern technology.
Hanhart has chosen the two register SW510 M manually wound chronograph caliber to power this watch. This movement features an extended power reserve of 58 hours.
Bright white X2 SuperLuminova (glows green) is used on the hour and minute hands along with the hour numerals on the dial.
In addition, the Hanhart 415 ES Panda Chronograph features a domed sapphire crystal with an interior anti-reflective coating.
The watch is water resistant to 100 meters, and the case is antimagnetic to 16,000 A/m.
Wings Logo
The Hanhart 415 ES Panda Chronograph dial features the iconic Hanhart "wings logo," a symbol synonymous with the brand since it made its debut on the original 415 ES in the 1960s.
This is the first Hanhart collection in over 40 years to feature this distinctive logo.
The full Hanhart wings logo can also be found on the steel case back and bracelet buckle, while the winged "h" is used on the crown.
Other Special Features
Hanhart designed this watch with more than three times the typical antimagnetic protection of 4,800 A/m to earn a rating of 16,000 A/m.
To achieve this higher rating, Hanhart first changed the dial material from brass to soft iron. And next, they used a special type of steel both inside and outside of the case to act as a blocking agent.
Magnetism is a primary cause of poor timekeeping in mechanical watches, so this increased rating provides needed protection against many electronic devices and gadgets.
This watch also features a new Hanhart shock resistance system to better stabilize and protect the movement. Hanhart has installed gaskets on the front and back of the movement holding ring which allow the movement to slightly move in the event of a drop, hit, or other shock.
Also, you may notice that the tips of the hands are slightly bent downward in an effort to reduce the parallax effect from the domed sapphire crystal.
The case of this watch is stainless steel with brushed and polished finishes and is fitted with a bi-directional 60 click bezel with a triangular indicator.
New Quick Adjust Bracelet
A first for Hanhart, the bracelet on this watch features a quick adjust buckle for tool free micro adjustments.
The bracelet can be lengthened or shortened by up to 10 mm with the quick press of a button, allowing the wearer to dial in their preferred fit without needing to search for a spring bar tool.
The bracelet has a satinized finish and the quick adjust buckle features Hanhart's historic "wings" logo.
