A New Patented In-House Flyback Chronograph Movement

Dirk Dornblueth has taken his time to develop this new movement - a lot of time.

In 1997, Dirk received a patent for a new chronograph design featuring a flyback complication.

Five years later in 2002, Dirk and his father Dieter laid the foundations for a manually winding flyback chronograph with power reserve indication, and for the next twenty-two years they worked to complete the development of Calibre CHR.2022.

A new German chronograph is born.

The Good StuffDornblueth & Sohn Calibre CHR.2022 Movement

This new movement features rhodium-plated grained bridges and cocks with yellow gold-plated hand engraving of the Dornblueth name and movement number.

Incorporating 22 jewels and 2 ball bearings, the movement beats at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour with a power reserve 48 hours.

Dirk uses an extra large Glucydur screw balance with Nivarox 1 Breguet balance spring and swan neck fine adjustment.

And like all Dornblueth & Sohn watches, the hand finish is meticulous, including the engraved silver dial and polished hands.

Flyback Chronograph Complication With Central Seconds

A flyback chronograph is one of the easiest chronographs to operate.

Rather than having to remember to stop the chronograph hand before resetting, the reset button may be pressed while the chronograph hand is in motion causing that hand to "fly back" to 0.

This function allows continuous operation of the chronograph when timing multiple events, as one push returns the chronograph hand to 0 but does not stop its operation - it simply starts over to time the next event.

This chronograph can also function as a traditional chronograph using the pusher at 2 to start and stop the chronograph and the pusher at 4 to reset.

In addition to the centrally mounted chronograph hand, you'll also notice a centrally mounted sweep seconds hand which runs independently of the chronograph.
