Hanhart Pioneer One With Blue Dial


Hanhart is known for their chronograph watches, including flyback, single button and traditional two pusher chronographs.

But with the Pioneer One Series this German watchmaker has proven that great things can happen in the Black Forest in a non-chronograph design.

This release in the Pioneer One Series and features a vivid blue dial.

These Hanhart models fill an important role in the collection - three handed watches that are instantly recognizable as Hanhart watches without the chronograph functions.



The DNA of the Hanhart Pioneer One


The Hanhart Pioneer One Series watches offer a healthy dose of Hanhart history with a contemporary case size and other important design elements.

For example, in choosing the hands, Hanhart revisited their 417 ES flyback chronograph series from the 1950's.

The large crown was also important in early Hanhart designs, allowing the pilot to use the crown while wearing gloves, and that crown is fitted on this series.


This watch also takes design elements from the very famous Hanhart Calibres 40, 41 and 42 which were originally produced for the Air Force division of the German Federal Armed Forces.

Although these earlier watches all featured chronograph functions, their designs became instantly recognizable as a Hanhart watch, and the Pioneer One Series carries forward this tradition in a three handed time and date watch.

Hanhart has chosen a perfect case size of 42 mm, and the fluted bi-directional rotating bezel with red marking is associated as one of Hanhart's most recognizable design elements.

Verified Owner Comments: I was impressed by this watch when I first saw it online, but in person it's even more impressive. The subtle rings in the dial really play with the light. The dark blue is very subtle as well. You can still tell it's blue, but at steep viewing angles it almost looks black. It's much darker than most other blues, and the closest thing I can compare it to is the Omega Seamaster 300m Diver blue. The hands are very crisp and clean, and it's very easy to read. All the numbers as well as both the minute and hour hand have lume on them. The second hand does not. However, the second hand is the same as in their chronographs, and is very thin, with just a small amount of red on the end. It also curves downward at the end, similar to Hanhart chronographs. The bezel is very minimal, with just one small red pip. It gives the watch a very clean appearance. The crown is large, but not obnoxiously so. It's very easy to wind and set the time and date.
