Product Details

The Dornblueth & Sohn Calibre 99.10 Weltzeit Klassik features central seconds and a 24 hour GMT subdial.  "Weltzeit" in the name means "world time" in German, referring to the addition of a second time zone on this piece.

This watch features the Dornblueth & Sohn Calibre 99.10 KL (Klassik) which was both developed and created in Dirk's workshops in Kalbe, Germany.

This watch allows the independent tracking of two time zones through a button located at 2.

As is typical in a Dornblueth watch, Dirk includes all the "good stuff" - 3/4 plate, beveled edges, screw balance wheel, swan neck regulation, engraved balance cock, screwed gold chatons, and blued screws (by flame of course, including the slots).

And now the extras. The name "D. Dornblueth & Sohn, Kalbe i./S.A." is hand engraved and not machine engraved, a virtually rarity on any watch. And all of the decoration (Côtes de Genève and the sunray finish on the crown wheel and ratchet) are all done in-house, by hand.

You'll notice that the movement is rose gold in appearance - this process itself is elaborate. After cutting and polishing the plate, Dirk treats the surface to turn the metal a copper color. After all of the drilling and milling operations are complete, the movement itself is treated with rose gold to enhance the deep color.

The dial features an engraved finish with a silky matte surface of a similar style to historical ship chronometers and precision pendulum clocks.

This watch features a brushed and polished nickel-free steel case and the crown is signed D. Dornblueth, as is the tang buckle. Power reserve is 50 hours.

Old School German craftsmanship at a sane price

"Old School German craftsmanship at a sane price"

Verified Owner Comments: Jan 2022: As a collector of travel/GMT watches, I realized I was interested in something simpler, more artisan and not in the realm of crazy expensive ($10k+). I've been aware of Watchbuys for many years and found myself always coming back to the Dornbluth page because of their interesting complications, handworked movements and classic, simple styling. I finally pulled the trigger for their Weltzeit watch after trying to learn as much as I could about it online. What attracted me especially was the simple, adjustable hour hand for new local time done via a button above the crown. Home time would continually be tracked on the 24 hour scale on a subdial at 6 o'clock. Very straightforward. Something else that attracted me was the beautiful treatment to the movement that Dornbluth does in-house, such as engraving the balance cock, adding a central seconds capability and the overall classic German style decorations. It is a beauty to behold. I paid for the watch in January 2021 knowing... - more details
