A New Watch is Born
Good things take time. Great things take even more time.
And even though we continually sell out of this model and must wait up to several months to receive new stock from Nomos, we are pleased to now have this unique watch in stock and ready to ship.
It's no secret that Nomos has been spending the last few years developing a new movement to power world time watches, and we were actually able to see the new Nomos Tangomat GMT World Time for the first time at the Basel Watch Fair.
We were attracted to this watch at first sight - it was uniquely different while at the same time it maintained the Nomos design standards for the brand.
The GMT World Time Function
This watch shows the time in two different zones, but in a very different way than other GMT and world time watches. You'll notice the rectangular pusher located just above the crown. This pusher activates the city display at the 9 position, which in our picture is set to New York therefore the hour and minute hands are used to show time in the local city. At the 3 position is the time in the home city - in our picture it's 4:12 PM.
Because the second time zone uses European or military time, it's easy to tell AM from PM (4 is 4 AM and 16 is 4 PM).
Continuing to push the pusher will cycle through cities around the world, and using the airport code for most cities it's easy to set the second time zone or even look up multiple times across the globe.
Fit and Finish
The case is in stainless steel and consists of five parts. The watch diameter is 40 mm and is topped with a domed sapphire crystal with sapphire crystal also on the back to view the beautifully decorated in-house movement. All of this packed in a case of only 10.8 mm tall.
The dial is galvanized and white silver-plated while the hands are in blue tempered steel.
And last but not least - the strap. Nomos watches use hand stitched straps made from Shell Cordovan. The leather is very smooth, durable, water-resistant and extremely long-lived.
