Product Details

Jochen Benzinger is considered one of the world's best watch artisans for engraving, guilloche dials and skeletonized movements. Jochen lives and works near the Black Forest region of Germany, and that is where he creates masterpieces.  All his work done is completely by hand using machines that are, in many cases, over 100 years old.  You can learn more about how Jochen Benzinger creates watches by clicking here.  You'll also see the very machines and workshop where he works.

With this watch Jochen proves again why his old-world craftsmanship skills are among the elite in his profession.

In contrast to his Subskription and Regulator models, the timepieces in Jochen’s "Classic” series offer a more traditional layout with the hour and minute hands typically mounted together on a central post. However, these watches are far from simple. They feature hand-guilloched and hand-skeletonized features that do not just catch the eye, they tend to draw a crowd. Jochen designs and completes all his creations in-house along with a group of German master watchmakers.

This watch features a multi-layered dial in sterling silver that is hand-guilloched. The lower dial is decorated in a barley pattern guilloche, while the top dial has a ribbon guilloche with a Breguet frost finish. The Breguet-style hands are flame-blued steel. Unlike the Jochen’s other Classic Frosted Barley models, the seconds register at 6 is closed, creating a uniform presentation of the dial.

Finished in black PVD, the ground plate is hand-guilloched and features flame-blued screws. The transparent case back reveals the hand-guilloched, skeletonized, and engraved movement that is decorated in rose gold, navy, and purple. It also features swan neck fine regulation.

The case is made in Pforzheim with high grade steel finished in black DLC, has a combination of polished and brushed finishes, and features a sapphire crystal on the front and back.

This watch ships with a calf leather strap and a black DLC buckle.

The Rose Engine

The rose engine is a type of geometric lathe, many of which date back more than 100 years.

Operated entirely by hand, each cut must be precisely made or the entire watch component is ruined and must be started again.

There are very few craftsmen in the world who are trained as experts in the operations of rose engines, engine turning and hand guilloche, and these techniques are employed in all Jochen Benzinger watches.

The Graver

This hand tool is the same as employed by the 16th century German painter and engraver Albrecht Durer.

Jochen Benzinger uses these graver tools to cut and decorate movement parts.

Skeleton Saw

A skeleton saw (or "fine fretsaw") is usually associated with work done by master goldsmiths, but Jochen Benzinger use this tool to create the skeletonizing of the bridges.
