A New Hanhart Watch in a New Hardened Case
Introducing the new Hanhart Preventor HD12™, a brand new 39 mm watch in Hanhart's three hand collection.
Hanhart has been in the development process with this new watch for more than two years, with much of that time focusing on a new hardened case technology.
Background
Hanhart and we have received many requests over the years for a three handed watch in the traditional Hanhart design with a mid sized 39 mm case, and the new Preventor HD12 answers those requests.
The HD12 in the watch name refers to Hanhart's new hardened (

1200 Vickers case, and this new watch is available in your choice of a matte black or matte blue dial on strap or hardened stainless steel bracelet.
A Nod to the Past
Hanhart is a German watch company that doesn't need to create an "artificial past" for marketing purposes - the company has been continuously producing watches since 1882.
This new watch incorporates elements from historic Hanhart models, including cathedral hands that are curved at the ends to avoid parallax errors.
The seconds hand features a distinctive red tip to enhance legibility, while the dial is clean with no date window (and no ghost date wheel or crown position).
Hanhart has also incorporated their historical logo on the dial, crown, and case back.
Hanhart HD12 Hardened Steel
The hardened case of this watch marks the debut of Hanhart's new HD12 steel. HD12 steel achieves an outstanding level of surface hardness and scratch resistance while still maintaining the corrosion resistant properties typical of stainless steel.
The process of creating HD12 steel begins with the diffusion of carbon into the stainless steel, creating a gradual transition from a hard surface to a softer core which helps prevent brittleness.
Next, a transparent finish is then applied via a physical vapor deposition process for additional protection, bringing the total surface hardness to 1,200 HV. At only 200 - 300 HV, conventional 316L stainless steel watch cases are no match for HD12 steel.
Important features include:
- HD12 hardened steel case
- Water resistant to 150 meters
- Sapphire crystal with interior AR coating
- C1 SuperLuminova coated hands and numerals
- Screw down crown
- Screw down case back
- No ghost date
- Historical Hanhart logo on dial and crown
- Matte blue dial
This watch is fitted with a satinized hardened steel bracelet with Hanhart's historical logo on the folding clasp.
The bracelet has been hardened up to 1,000 HV using a transparent physical vapor deposition process.
