This new MK II is officially named the "80 Jahre Jubilaeum" or 80th Anniversary, and sports a very special dial to pay tribute to Hanhart's location deep in the German Black Forest.
A Special Dial - Black Forest Green
When Hanhart decided to create an 80th anniversary MK II, they knew the dial had to stand out.
And they didn't have to look far for inspiration - just outside their factory windows in Guttenbach is the German Black Forest (Schwarzwald).
The Black Forest is a large forested mountain range in the Baden-Wurttemberg region of Germany, and gets its name from the dense cluster of beech and pine trees.
Hanhart calls the dial "Black Forest Green", and its matte color perfectly complements the matte finish of the bead blasted case. This dial changes from darker green to lighter green depending upon the lighting.
Other Unique Features
The Hanhart Pioneer MK II Jubilaeum Limited Edition is designed to be distinctive within the Pioneer series.
Further distinguishing this watch from its predecessors, this new watch features a sapphire display case back to show off the elaborately decorated movement and Hanhart skeletonized rotor. This is the first Hanhart Pioneer Chronograph to feature a display back.
The limited edition number of each watch is engraved into the case back.
While the standard Hanhart Pioneer MK II has a brushed steel case, this new watch features a matte, bead blasted case.
Pioneer MK II Heritage
The Hanhart Pioneer MK II is one of Hanhart's best selling watches of all time.
What is interesting about the Pioneer MK II is the placement of the chronograph pushers - they are asymmetrical rather than evenly spaced as on other chronograph watches.
Powering this watch is the automatic winding Hanhart Calibre HAN3703 which features as its base the Valjoux 7753. This movement has been modified to relocate the top pusher further from the crown providing for ease of use.
Hanhart adjusts this movement to six positions for outstanding accuracy.
The red reset pusher is a Hanhart design and was developed as a warning mechanism to pilots using this chronograph in flight.
This bi-compax chronograph features a 30 minute register at 3 and small seconds at 9. The case is in bead blasted stainless steel and is fitted with a friction fluted bi-directional rotating bezel with red indicator.
