Product Details

The Eza Sealander Black DLC has a historic look inspired by Eza’s original dive series.  Classic in its simplicity, this watch features the core characteristics of a great dive watch: an automatic winding movement, a unidirectional dive bezel, a dark-colored dial with contrasting indices, and indices that are simple in shape and filled with SuperLuminova.

In addition to those features, this watch also features a black DLC (diamond link carbon) case for an even more distinctive look.

Form and Function

To maximize legibility underwater, the Eza Sealander Black DLC has yellow rectangular hour markers instead of numerals.  The indices and bezel marker are both coated in C3 SuperLuminova.  The sapphire crystal is domed for a vintage look.

The 316L stainless steel case features a brushed DLC finish, and the Eza logo is engraved on the case back.  This watch features a subtle date window at 4:30.  The case also features a ceramic bezel inlay, which is resistant to scratches and discoloration from UV light.  The watch is water resistant to 300 meters.

Quality Control Testing

The Eza Sealander Black DLC undergoes a rigorous set of quality control tests in two countries.

The first set of tests are performed at the atelier in Pforzheim, Germany.  There, the watch undergoes a visual test, a water resistance check, and a final technical check on the movement.  Each watch leaves the atelier with a unique printout of the movement timing and performance, which is adjusted in-house in six positions.

Next, the watch is shipped to Renens, Switzerland, and undergoes one final inspection before packaging and shipment are completed.

Important features of this watch include:
  • Domed sapphire crystal with interior AR coating
  • Ceramic bezel inlay
  • Date display at 4:30
  • Adjusted and tested in six positions
  • Black DLC case
  • C3 SuperLuminova on hands and hours (glows green)
  • Water resistant to 300 meters

The Eza Sealander Black DLC ships on a black calf leather strap.

Eza is a German watch brand born in the West German capital of watchmaking and jewelry - Pforzheim.

Pforzheim is a small city in Baden-Wurttemberg, and is not only the home of many German watch brands today but historically was among the most important cities worldwide for the production of mechanical watch movements, cases, and other watch components.

Pforzheim has also been called the "entrance to the Black Forest"  due to its location in southwest Germany. The town is mostly known for its historical jewelry and watchmaking industry, which dates back more than 250 years.

The city bears the name "Goldstadt" (Gold City) in Germany, and today the city hosts a leading German watchmaking school and technical museum where interesting artifacts and machinery from the history of west German watchmaking are on display.

Watches bearing the name Eza were originally manufactured in Pforzheim by local manufacturers, one of the most important of whom was Hermann Becker.  Becker and his family produced watch cases, dials and ebouches, including the in-house calibres 312 and 313.

During the 20th century Eza produced a variety of watches and complications, but were most known for divers watches.  Unfortunately Eza was the victim of the "quartz crisis" as were many other watch and movement companies in Pforzheim - by 1979 all remaining 48 employees lost their jobs.

The modern history of Eza begins in 2016 when master watchmaker Adriaan Trampe wanted to create watches with a vintage look in a modern way.  Adriaan took control of the Eza brand and decided to stick to the original traditions important to the brand - mechanical movements only and assembly in Pforzheim, Germany.

Eza currently offers three primary collections:  AirFighter, Sealander, and Vintage.  WatchBuys is proud to have been selected by Eza as their exclusive North American distributor, and we are pleased to support German watchmaking in Pforzheim.

A Solid Choice

"A Solid Choice"

Verified Owner Comments: Eza is a watch brand that gives you a lot for the money. For starters, the watch comes in a beautiful box. A watch roll, extra strap, and changing tool is also provided.

This is one of the nicest packages I've seen, especially for a watch in this price range. The Sealander is solid all around, with its DLC coating, nice bezel action, well-done dial symmetry, bright colors, and quality strap.

One thing to note: the straps are a bit small for those with larger wrists (7.75 in, for me). I look forward to see what Eza does in the future, as they offer top quality timepieces in this price range.
