Dekla Turbulenz V4 40 RS

6Steel is a proprietary case hardening process developed for Dekla. During the process, the 316L stainless steel case is heated in a mixture of carbon gases at low temperature to allow for the diffusion of atoms.

This intricate process is repeated over many hours and results in a watch case with a hardness rating of 1300 Hv, or 6 times the original hardness of normal stainless steel. 

The hardened watch case is then put through a vacuum chamber to increase corrosion resistance to sea water and sweat. This multi layering process makes 6Steel an ideal case material for sport and diving watches.

Just like the hardened case, the dial and hands are made in-house by Dekla. 

The overall design is inspired by vintage cockpit clocks that served as true navigational tools in the air.  The simple hour numerals along with the triangular marker at 12 allow for a quick read of the time, and the bold indices and hands contrast well against the black lacquered dial. 

The numerals, hour and minute hands, and markers have BGW9 SuperLuminova applied for a strong glow in low light environments.  This watch also features a sporty red seconds hand which stands out, even from a distance.
