That Wolfgang Steinkrüger was fascinated with the night sky is quite obvious when one examines the Sothis collection of elegant and distinctive chronographs and moon phase watches. Long given to contemplating the relationship between the course of the stars, Canis Major in particular, and the course of the Earth, the designer behind Sothis adopted the constellation as an early trademark of his timepieces.

Wolfgang operates Sothis watches in Bielefeld, a town in the Teutobruger Forest of Germany. Wolfgang named his collection after the Egyptian goddess of Canis Major, Sothis, which is the brightest celestial body in the winter sky.

The Sothis collection of watches is amazing to see. We have long admired his designs and skills as a watchmaker, having first reviewed the line in person at the Basel Watch Fair. With each successive year, the collection has grown, and the line has taken on more character. Seeing a Sothis watch in person leaves no doubt that Wolfgang has not simply copied traditional designs used in so many other watches.

Take a look at the Sothis collection. Pay attention to the case design, the dial layout, the moon phase indications, the shape of the hands - in other words, the small things. The attention to detail is obvious, and it is this pride that has made Sothis such a recognizable brand name within Germany and Europe. Wolfgang's watch designs are followed closely by the German press, as he is a true trendsetter among the mechanical watch workshops.

WatchBuys is very proud to represent Sothis in North America. These watches add a styling element that complements the other lines of watches that we carry, and we know that our clients will be pleased to own a watch with such attention to the "small things".
