Product Details

This was the watch that stopped us in our tracks at the Basel Watch Fair.

We were walking by the Muhle Glashutte booth, and noticed this new design immediately in the front window.  The design is both bold, eye catching and inventive.

Muhle calls this design "a new perspective to watch design", and we agree.

This Muhle Glashutte Terranaut II is designed as a navigator watch, equally at home both on land and at sea.  You'll notice that the hour is indicated on a central ring, while the minutes are shown in large two digit numerals along the outer edge.

Telling time with this watch is easy - the big and bold numerals and markers prevent the eyestrain often associated with telling time on smaller dials.  The dial is matte black with white and red numerals, and the hands are large and coated with SuperLuminova for night visibility.

We love the case size - 44 mm.  The case finish is satinized, and the watch features a flat sapphire crystal.  The automatic winding movement is nicely decorated and features a number of parts made in-house by Muhle.

And don't forget about the crown - it too is oversized, bold and easy to grip.

Black calf leather strap with tang buckle.

Comments about this watch: I bought this watch for two reasons. First, it is astonishingly beautiful. Second, it is made in Glashutte. A watch needs to meet a certain standard to even bear the name of the town on the timepiece. The 44mm diameter is a bit unnerving at first, and the oversized crown can be a bit uncomfortable if worn too low on the wrist. These are only temporary issues. The strap is the most comfortable of any watch I have ever owned. It is powered by an ETA 2824-2 movement, that is heavily modified by Muh... - more details
