The Mühle Glashutte Rasmus series of divers watches was designed using input from the AIDA, the official national German apnea diving team.
In creating the Rasmus 1,000 meter divers watch, Mühle Glashutte took the path of big, bold and sturdy. What's also nice to see however is that this watch has striking design elements, and is not just another "large" watch.
The case is amazing. Milled from a solid block of 316L stainless steel, the sandblasted finish, weight (250 grams) and finish are among the best we've seen. The case back is one solid piece of steel, and features a threaded screw down construction. The case back has been engraved by Mühle with the serial number prominently displayed along with the Rasmus series information.
The case offers extreme protection from magnetism, and features an automatic helium vent for pressure equalization during decompression.
Next, the crystal - sapphire of course, but in a slightly domed pattern that is extremely thick (3 mm). An anti-reflective coating has been applied to the inside of the crystal only to prevent exterior scratching of this material. The bezel is ratcheted and uni-directional indicating elapsed time in 0 - 60 second increments.
And the dial - another stunning feature on this watch. The crisp black color and LumiBrite lumination create an extremely easy to read display, even under low and no light conditions.
Date display at 4. Crown is screw down and signed. The Rasmus features a genuine rubber strap (with the familiar vanilla smell) with a tri-fold deployant buckle with security clasp (sand blasted).
