Following Fortis' maiden voyage aboard the Russian Space Station MIR in 1994, Fortis "launched" the Official Cosmonautis Collection.
Fortis was chosen by ROSCOMOS, the official Russian Space Agency, because of their need for a mechanical watch with advanced development in materials technology, build quality and robustness required for space travel.
To commemorate this honor, Fortis engraves the official emblem of the Russian Space Agency on the case back of every Cosmonautis watch. Also inscribed onto the case back is the insignia for the Yuri Gugarin Cosmonaut Training Center, where these watches are standard issue to this day.
The Fortis Official Cosmonautis Chronograph is housed in a 42 mm case with a matte black dial and contrasting white numerals and indices. This watch features complete chronograph functions along with a day and date display at 3.
Oversized pushers provide for easy operation of all chronograph functions. This watch features the three traditional chronograph subdials: a 30 minute counter at 12, a 12 hour register at 6, and seconds at 9.
The hands of both chronograph counters, as well as the central chronograph hand, are painted orange for easy identification.
We are also impressed with the screwed case lugs, ensuring a secure fit at all times.
Important features of this watch include:
- Double anti-reflective coating
- Sapphire crystal
- Day/date display at 3
- Water resistant to 200 meters
- Engraved case back
This watch is fitted with a Fortis stainless steel bracelet with locking clasp.
